William "Willy" Norfleet Banks, Jr.

February 8, 1953 - September 28, 2021
Berkeley, California

Berkeley, California - Willy (Billy) Banks translated on Sept. 28, 2021 at home in Berkeley, California. Willy was born in New Bern, NC on Feb. 8, 1953 to William N. Banks Sr., and Janie Banks. Survivors include his brother, Michael Banks and half-brother, Robert Banks.

Willy had a special place in his heart for his family, friends, and his consciousness of God. Without a doubt he enjoyed the nature of our world through simple things like a flower, a bird or just talking to a stranger to give a smile and show kindness. Mom would say that Willy was her heart and, being the middle brother of 3, he was the bond that made us one in our family.

Willy also had a strong interest in sports throughout his life, playing baseball and basketball at Palmetto High School. Dad called him Wonderous Willy. I, Michael, called him my brother and will miss talking with him about all the things we grew up to love in this world. In his final moments he said, "don't worry about me, I'm okay". God called Willy back home and took all the pain and worries away. Now his Soul is free because God loved him.

Hallelujah, Hari Bol, HU; Willy will forever be singing a love song to God..

~ IN REMEMBRANCE ~

I was very saddened to see the passing of "Willy," just two days ago.
I was good friends with his older brother Ronnie (RIP) in high school.
My condolences to PHS class of 1971 on the loss of your friend.
Peace & Love,
