James Patrick "Pat" Willingham, Sr.
October 3, 1942 - July 24, 2022
James Patrick "Pat" Willingham, Sr. left his body to join with God on Sunday, July 24, 2022.in Daytona Beach, FL at the age of 79 years. Pat was a 1953 graduate of Palmetto Elementary School in Palmetto, Florida, a 1959 graduate of Palmetto High School, and a graduate of the University of Florida, Gainesville. He returned to PHS and joined the faculty teaching English in addition to coaching high school varsity football and track.
He was survived by his best friend and wife of nearly 37 years, Pam (nee Anderson), son James Patrick, Jr. "JP" and daughter-in-law Ranjita.
Pat was a good, sweet soul who cared deeply for the environment. One of his favorite local outdoor places was the Memorial Park in Port Orange, Florida. It's a beautiful 10-acre park with a lighted walkway around a large lake adjacent to the Port Orange Community Center and host to many outdoor events throughout the year. Pat and Pam often walked the lake path, admiring and watching the now towering bald cypress trees grow. Because it's a memorial park, a new grove of cypress trees will be planted and a plaque installed to honor the memory of Pat.
The family would deeply appreciate any help in making this dream come true so that this park can continue to grow and shelter walkers, joggers, and families well into the future. Any amount given will help this become a living tribute to Pat's life and love for his greater community, his friends, and his family.
