April 20, 1953 - September 20, 2022

On April 20, 1953, God blessed Herman Earl Haynes, Sr. and Razaleen Jefferson Haynes with a son, Herman Earl Haynes, Jr.
It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that approximately 10:00 PM, September 20, 2022, Reverend Dr. Herman Haynes Jr., at the age of 69 years, had earned his wings and taken his final assignment to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Born in Mineral Wells, Texas, his stay there was short lived as the family moved to Palmetto, Florida where Herman was reared. He was educated in the Manatee County Public School System, graduating from Palmetto High School in 1971. While in high school, he excelled in football & basketball and played the trumpet in the band.

He matriculated at Florida State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science, in Psychology (1975) and a Master of Science, in Counseling & Human Systems (1977). He had a thirst for knowledge and went on to attend Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He graduated with a Master of Divinity Cum Laude (1994). He continued his education at Columbia Presbyterian Seminary graduating with a Doctorate in Ministry Magnum Cum Laude (2008).

He met the love of his life, Jacquelyn Elaine Johnson, in 1972 while at Florida State University. They were married on June 10, 1978, and he promised to love and cherish her until death. For 44 years he did just that.

Pastor Haynes' calling into ministry began in 1979 while he was a member of the former Morning Star Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA. However, it was shortly after joining The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church in 1992 that he accepted his call into ministry. He served as the Staff Pastor for Pastoral Care and Counseling from 1999 to his death. Over 25 years he served. He loved people and people loved him. His outreach nationally, statewide, locally and most importantly, individually, has impacted lives in ways beyond measure. He looked at everyone through the eyes of Jesus, treating everyone with love, respect and dignity. He was also the founder Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Haynes Alternative Dispute Resolution Services (ADR) for twenty-nine (29) years.

His legacy of love, service, honesty, fairness and compassion will forever be cherished in the hearts of his wife, Jacquelyn "Jackie," and his children, Tiffany Deon (Wayne) of Orlando, FL, Bridgette Quianan of McDonough, GA and Herman Jeremy (Crystal) of Conyers, GA. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Haynes (Adriene) Miramar, FL, in-laws Herman Johnson of Des Moines, IA, Betty Williams (Johnny) of Miami, FL, Rubin Johnson (Jean) of Ft. Pierce, FL, Doris McKnight of Orlando, FL, fourteen (14) grandchildren, Deonte' James (Shaterra), Jordan Watson, Tiamani Jacobs, Timothy Jacobs, Taylor Bailey, Tyra Green, Tyler Green, Madison Haynes, Madison Watson, Sydney Haynes, Stephanie Warren, Stephone Robinson (Alicia), William James, Raven Warren.

He also leaves his god-children and a host of relatives, friends, colleagues, classmates, and his church family. Although he was not one to shower us with hugs and kisses, we all knew we were his joy and delight. He was "Daddy". He was "Big Papa". He was "Rev". He was Pastor Haynes.

He was predeceased by his parents and two children, Cesar Murray and Latrina Sherrese.

At an early age Pastor Haynes, as he was affecionalely called by most, demonstrated early leadership acumen. His gift of reconciliation was demonstrated throughout his life from a very early age. He was blessed with the ability to bring people together no matter their age, gender, race or nationality. He was often called to facilitate cases with difficult situations. He would come to be a blessing to the many lives he touched. Pastor Haynes will always be remembered for his compassion for others, his willingness to help anybody and serve others with joy. He loved people and it showed. He was a loving husband and father. He was a problem solver, peacemaker, counselor, mediator and friend.
